Cecil Lloyd Scribner, 85, of Shell Lake died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home in the loving care of his family. He was born May 2, 1932 in Shell Lake, WI to Fred and Mary (Nielsen) Scribner. Cecil was raised in Spooner, attended Bashaw School and later graduated from Spooner High School. He served with the honor guard at Arlington Cemetery for the US Army from 1950-1952, during which time he met and married Gloria Bultman. They moved back to the Town of Bashaw and he hauled milk for Stella Cheese for many years. Later, he purchased Scribner Excavating from his father and he operated the business until retiring in 2013. He was married in Shell Lake on February 12, 1994 to Shirley Volkmann.

Cecil served his community in many ways, including: County Board Member, Town of Bashaw Chairman, president of the American Legion, Commander of the Veterans Honor Guard (of which he was the last remaining founding member) and as president of the Badger Wheels Studebaker Club.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Spooner; sons, Dale (Karen) Scribner of Spooner and Christopher (Michelle) Scribner of Spooner; daughter, Laurel (Jeff) Love of Trego; stepchildren, Deborah (Scott) McLaughlin of Ogolvie, MN and Jennifer Hadaidi of Hugo, MN; 7 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Eleanor Smith of White Deer, PA and Dorothy Wozny of Deer Lodge, MT; nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gloria; son, Timothy; brothers, Vern & Fred Scribner, Jr. and his sister, Carol Schaefer.

A celebration of Cecil's life will be held at Tracks Family Restaurant in Spooner from 11:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, February 17. A private family service with full military honors were held.

Skinner Funeral Home of Shell Lake is serving the family.
