Charles T. Aubart “Chuck”, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, with his precious wife Kathy by his side.

Chuck was born October 28, 1934, to Charles and Ruth Aubart. He was the oldest of eight children, raised on a poultry farm in Bloomer WI.

After graduating from Bloomer High school, Chuck enlisted in the Navy and served from 1952-1956. While stationed in San Diego he was set up on a blind date, meeting the love of his life, Katherine Louder. Chuck and Kathy were married on August 22, 1955. After a brief honeymoon Chuck went back to serve the US Navy Sea Bees in Port Hueneme, California. Their first son was born while Chuck was at sea. He finally met his son when he was seven months old. After his military service was complete Chuck and Kathy moved to Hayward where he worked for ABS.

Their family continued to grow and they raised five children on their turkey farm. As the years passed, the farm transitioned to hog farming employing many local farmhands. Chuck’s hog farm grew to over 2500 hogs at any given time which is how he soon became known as “HOGMAN.” Naturally, raising pigs lead to endeavors including roasting pigs for community events and private parties.

Chuck was known in the community for his dedicated service in countless organizations and his contagious smile. He not only left a legacy of being a servant leader to his family, but those that knew him. Over the years Chuck served as a Cub Master, 4-H Leader, Charter Member with Knights of Columbus, a 30 year member of Lions Club and District Governor for 27-E1 for 1 year, with The Pre-Birkie & American Birkebeiner, on Sawyer County Fair Board and Board of Directors for Hayward Civic Club. He was actively involved in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Apostolic Leader.

Chucks energy and joy inspired all who knew him. He always had time for a cup of coffee and loved to be surrounded by friends and family. He loved decorating the farm for Christmas which became a tradition and got underway in October with the help of all their kids and grandkids. He was very proud of his garden and took great joy in spending time on the golf course. He had the honor of riding as the Musky Fest Grand Marshall in 2011.

Among those who survive and will treasure the memories are his wife of 69 years, Kathy; his five children, David (Patsy) Aubart, Mary (Rip) Prètat, Sherry (Rusty) Orton, Jon (Susan) Aubart, Tom (Sharon) Aubart; 19 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and 1 great- great grandchild; siblings, Kenneth (Mali), Ronald, Vern (Doris), Jim, Carol (Jim) Reimer and Rebecca (Tim) Weiderholt. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends and acquaintances through the year.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susanne Nelson and infant brother Wayne.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9th, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at noon. Military Honors will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service. Luncheon to follow at church fellowship hall.
