Cheryl LaVonne Dahlke, age 83, of Barron, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Cambridge Senior Living in Rice Lake.

Cheryl was born on March 12, 1943, in Barron, to William “Bill” and Margaret “Ruth” (Hughes) Reichert. She was raised on the family farm just north of Hillsdale. On November 3, 1963, she married Edward Dahlke, and together they made their home south of Barron, where Cheryl lived until moving to Cambridge Senior Living two months ago.

Cheryl was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She lovingly cared for her mother during her later years after the lasting effects of a stroke made it impossible for her to live independently. Although Cheryl never had children of her own, she poured her love into her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her home became the gathering place where family and friends shared holidays, meals, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

A gifted musician, songwriter, and composer, Cheryl shared her faith through gospel music, performing with family in gospel bands for many years. She had a deep appreciation for beauty, especially her treasured collection of porcelain roses.

Cheryl found lasting love with Jimmy Gilbertson, who became her best friend and constant companion. Together they shared 38 wonderful years, enjoying many winters in Florida and Texas until Jimmy’s passing in February 2025.

Cheryl is survived by her brother, Marlyn Reichert; her nieces and nephews, Glenda Hall Olson, Gerald Reichert, James Hall, Brian Bannister, Rona Johnson, Tamy Severude, Cindy Thompson, Jeff Reichert, Ricky Reichert, Scot Reichert, and Gary Reichert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Reichert; her husband, Edward Dahlke; her beloved life partner, Jimmy Gilbertson; her brothers, Harley, Peter Elton, and Larry Reichert; her sisters, Helen McBeth and Arloa Bannister; her nephew, Kevin Reichert; and her niece, Julie Jari.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron. Burial will take place at Wayside Cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cambridge Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided Cheryl during her final months.
