Clara Elizabeth Kallenbach, age 98, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, with family by her side.

Clara was born on November 11, 1927, to Gena (Erickson) and Carl Tuftin in the Town of Arland. She married Oliver Kallenbach on September 21, 1947.

Clara was a homemaker whose priority was raising their 8 children, while also working alongside Oliver on their farm in Hillsdale. She was truly the rock of our family; a selfless and faithful woman; always ready to help those in need.

Clara was a member of First Lutheran Church of Arland, where she was an active member of the Ladies Aid. She faithfully made lefsa and many cookies every year for their annual cookie walk.

Clara loved baking; always had fresh bread, homemade jam, and other baked goodies for all who visited. Clara also enjoyed quilting; she made beautiful “picture” quilts for each of her children. In addition to these, Clara’s other loves included hunting agates and reading. She had a personal library and would often re-read her favorites.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her children, Perry (Sally) Kallenbach, Larry (Carol) Kallenbach, both of Wheeler, Trudy Kallenbach, Lynn (SonYa) Kallenbach and Kathy (Randy) Eriksen, all of Hillsdale, Steve (Debbie) Kallenbach of Cameron, Roy Kallenbach of Wheeler and Bryan (Christine) Kallenbach of River Falls; daughter-in-law, Sandy Kallenbach; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Olga (John) Schwartz of Centuria; and brother-in-law, David Kallenbach; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years; brothers, Edwin and Casper Tuftin; sisters, Mabel and Helene Rhodes and Jean Kallenbach.

Our family is forever grateful to Trudy for being Clara’s full-time caregiver, which allowed Clara to live in her home until she went to her eternal home, where she was reunited with many loved ones.

A memorial service for Clara will be held on August 4 at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Arland. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Independent Cemetery in the Town of Arland.
