In Memory of Daisy Hilbert

June 24, 1932 - December 11, 2019

Daisy Hilbert (Boe), age 87, of Barron, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Brentwood Memory Care in Rice Lake.

Daisy was born on June 24, 1932 to Alfred and Nellie (Webb) Boe in Deer Park WI.  Daisy graduated from Amery High School and later the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a degree in Physical Education.  She married Donald Hilbert on June 25, 1954 in Hudson and they moved to Montana where she taught PE.   After their son, Mark was born, Donald and Daisy returned to Wisconsin to build the Barron Dairy Queen.  The Dairy Queen has remained in the Hilbert family since 1956 and has been a favorite spot for many locals.

She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Barron and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play hockey and other activities.  She enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Horseshoe Lake.  She had a feisty spirit that was known around town.  She never knew a stranger.  Her favorite thing to do was to tell stories and visit with customers at the Dairy Queen.  Daisy’s spunk and tenacity will surely be missed.

Daisy is survived by her sons, Mark (Bonnie) Hilbert, Barry (Michelle Melgosa) Hilbert, Rocky (Kristi) Hilbert and Guy (Cathie) Hilbert, all of Barron; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Larson of Waseca, MN and Fay Junkans of Clear Lake; brother, Ben Boe of Deer Park; longtime friend, Lloyd Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Donald Hilbert and brother, Danny.

Funeral services for Daisy Hilbert will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Barron with Rev. Floyd Lunde officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning.  Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
