In Memory of Dale A. Erickson
Dale Albert Erickson age 95 was called to his heavenly home Saturday, February 10, 2024 at his residence in Frederic with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
Dale was born December 14, 1928 to Walter and Edga Erickson of the Round Lake Community. He was the eldest of four children.
He attended a one room school at Round Lake that served all ages and for him, a short walk from home. He also attended Frederic High School where he graduated in 1946.
After graduating he was employed at various jobs and through these jobs, he was able to purchase his first Harley Davidson motorcycle, Dale loved the thrill of the speed and adventure, (much to the dismay of his mother.)
Later Dale felt the call from God upon his life to commit to service, but in 1951 he was drafted into military services during the Korean conflict for two years.
August 1953 Dale was married to Donna Mae Berglund whom he met only days before entering military services continuing to send letters almost daily.
Dale enrolled at St. Paul Bible School {Crown College} and worked at Montgomery Wards in St. Paul. Two years later he attended Superior State College. He began serving part-time at two rural churches and continued his ministry serving churches in Ontario and Manitoba and Wisconsin.
Many health issues limited Dale from continuing active ministry and Dale and Donna returned to Frederic. While Dale could no longer serve the people he loved, he still faithfully studied his Bible: he committed and succeeded in hand writing out the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
Dale and Donna celebrated their 70th Wedding anniversary at the Erickson family farm in August 2023, with family and friends, what a delight to have the youngest Great Grandson Chase, there to entertain. Celebrating Dale’s 95th Birthday on December 14, 2023 was an extra special day.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother Eugene, a daughter Lynette, and a grandson Terry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna, daughter Dalene, [Glen] Wight, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. A brother Carroll [Sue} Erickson, sister Nancy [Jeff] Laustsen as well as many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the St. Croix Hospice and Good Samaritan Home Care for the wonderful care and support given to Dale and his family.
A funeral service will be held at Trade Lake Baptist Church on Thursday, February 15, 2024 with visitation at 1:00 and service starting at 2:00 with Pastor Nathan King officiating. Burial Will take place at the Union Cemetery after the service with Ted East, Bruce Gibbs, Bruce Gustafson, Craig Lundeen, Craig Lundeen Jr., Bruce Olson as pallbearers.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic.
