In Memory of Dale Soderbeck


April 27, 1935 - August 4, 2021

Dale Robert Soderbeck passed away peacefully at the age of 86 in Siren, Wisconsin on August 4, 2021.

Dale was born on April 27, 1935, the son of Alice and William Soderbeck in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.

He graduated from the Grantsburg school system in 1953 and then went on the attend University of Wisconsin Stout, graduating from there in 1957. Dale started guiding on the St. Croix River for Einer Nelson in 1952. He was also a part of the Grantsburg Fire Department. He loved teaching and taught industrial arts and drivers ed at the Grantsburg School district for over 30 years, only missing 3 days in his entire teaching career! Dale was an avid deer hunter, whether it be bow or gun. He also had a love for fishing.

Dale served in the army during his years and was a lifelong member of the Lions Club. He was one of the cofounders of the watercross and was a racer for many years. Dale found a late passion for running, he ran 16 marathons starting in his 50’s, some of them being the Boston marathon, Twin Cities marathon and Grandma’s marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. He was a member of the Wild River Ridge Runners club. Dale was known for his countless captivating stories he told as well as the many corny jokes he had. His life was full of captivating memories and conversations, he will be dearly missed.

Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Soderbeck, his parents William and Alice Soderbeck, and his brother Gerald Soderbeck.

Dale is survived by his sisters Janice Fallstrom and Dianne Plaine, his children Suzette (Anthony) LaMere, Richard Soderbeck, Teri Svendsen, Sandi O’Brien, Joie Svendsen, Marshall Svendsen, Teresa (Matt) Klein, Jaime Soderbeck and Jenni (Jeromy) Cox, his grandchildren Joshua (Sarah) LaMere, Anthony (Stephanie) LaMere, Rosalie (Tyler) Himle, Catherine (Daniel) LaMere, William LaMere, Rebecca Reitan, Samara Cox, Maggie Cox, Graham Cox, Jameson Cox, Trey Svendsen, Kyler Svendsen, Eli Knutson, and Alisha Knutson, his great-grandchildren Liam LaMere, Landon LaMere, Amelia LaMere, and Connor Himle, as well as many other loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 2:00-6:00 PM with a tribute service at 3:30 PM at Hummer’s Event Center in Grantsburg.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
