Daniel Fredrick West, age 78, of Rice Lake, WI passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. Born on Sunday, November 3, 1946.

Dan was known for his big heart and the laughter he shared with everyone around him.

Dan proudly served in the United States Army as a door gunner and 5-ton truck driver in Vietnam. His respect for all military never faded. After his service, he enjoyed life on the road as a semi-driver, traveling across the country.

Later, he worked in heavy-duty trades before finding purpose helping others at a rehabilitation home and the Rice Lake Senior Center, where his humor and kindness touched many lives. He was a proud member of the Barron Masonic Lodge, where he was honored to serve as Past Master.

Dan also spent many years volunteering to play Santa for the community and loved bringing joy to as many families as he possibly could. Outside of work, Dan loved fishing, hunting, westerns, old cars, music, and time with family.

Growing up, he attended school in Downey, CA, and was known for always having a joke or prank ready to make people laugh.

Dan will be remembered for his laughter, kindness and love for family; reunited with the many loved ones, friends and dogs who greeted him with open arms. Dan was previously married to Lisa (West) Ray, with whom he raised their two daughters, Sonia (Michael) Peterson and Danielle West.

Later in life, he found love with his wife, Judy (Brunette), whose family – Tammy (Doug) Ormson, Tracy (Rick) Miller and Thomas (Portia) Brunette – welcomed him as their own.

Dan’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Zachary, Daniel (Lyndsay), Jacob, Sonny, Nicole, Isabella, Quentin, Isaiah (Kaitlyn), Hannah, Moriah, Cruz and Xavier; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Callum and Kinsley.
