Daniel T. Fjelstad, 64, of rural Cameron died unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on Sept. 15, 1961, to Thomas and Elizabeth “Betsy” (Kranzfelder) Fjelstad in Rice Lake.

Dan graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1980. Throughout the years he was employed by Coca-Cola and Pepsi and worked in the grocery business in various cities in Wisconsin before returning to Rice Lake in 1993 to partner with his father in operating Northland Insurance Services Inc. Dan took over the business and successfully ran it until his retirement in January 2026.

On June 16, 1990, Dan married Sheila Stecker in Wisconsin Rapids. They raised their three children at their Cameron home. Dan enjoyed hosting family gatherings, collecting antiques, participating in auctions, playing softball, attending baseball games and watching hockey and football games.

He is survived by Sheila, his wife of 35 years; sons Seth Fjelstad and Adam Fjelstad; and daughter Abby Fjelstad. Other survivors include his mother, Betsy Fjelstad; sister Kathleen (Duke) Behnke; brother Eric (Susan Ladenthin) Fjelstad; sisters-in law Kathleen (Tom) Redmond, Cheryl (Art) Hill, Judy Miller, Cindy Zickert, Debbie (Gary) Andres, and Diane (Tom) Orsi; and brothers-in-law Jeffrey Stecker, Tim Stecker, Steve (Shelly) Stecker; and many nieces and nephews. 

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Fjelstad; and father and mother-in-law Sylvester and Arlene Stecker; brothers-in-law Frank Zickert and James Stecker; sisters-in-law Merydene Ingham and Lori Stecker.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 9am-11am with funeral services to follow at Appleyard's Home for Funerals, 19 W. Messenger St., in Rice Lake, WI. Burial with a private family service will be at Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake.
