David E. Knutson, age 77, of Spooner, WI, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Aspen Acres Assisted Living in Hayward.

David Eugene Knutson was born June 7, 1945, in Minnesota the son of Kittil and Berthine (Beaver) Knutson. He attended Dodge Center Public Schools.

After high school he worked construction and various jobs before he continued his education at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake, WI. David worked for the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. He was on the highway painting and sign crews, and became crew chief where he oversaw highway signs for several counties. David retired at the age of 65. He was an avid reader and would complete three to four books a week. He also enjoyed walking, playing cribbage and smear and watching the Minnesota Vikings.

David is survived by his sister, Karen Sigmund of Spooner, WI; brother, Lowell (Mary Ann) Knutson of Prairie du Chien, WI; and two nephews, Robert Sigmund Jr., Chet Knutson; and two nieces, Deb Proctor and Ann Roever.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dane Knutson; and brother, Gerald Knutson.

A private interment will be held for David at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson, MN.
