David E. Magnus, age 60, of Sarona, WI, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
David Eugene Magnus was born October 27, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Eugene and Dolores (Johnson) Magnus. In his youth his family moved to the Town of Long Lake where David was raised. At the age of 14 David began playing bass in a band with his family at Johnson’s Oak Room on Long Lake. David graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1975 and then began working with his cousins in the drywall business. While working he was a member of the band Aurora which played classic Rock and Roll throughout the Rice Lake, Spooner, Shell Lake and Sarona areas. On March 10, 1980 David was joined in marriage to Lori Butterfield at the Long Lake Lutheran Church. David continued in his drywall work but in his spare time, David enjoyed doing taxidermy work. He especially enjoyed working on fish, and was known for his talent of detail and painting when it came to these pieces. David was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed playing bass, drawing, painting, and writing songs. David will be remembered for his uncanny sense of humor, ability to see the good in everyone, and his big heart. He was a member of Long Lake Lutheran Church and had a strong faith in the Lord.
