In Memory of David E. McPeak

March 7, 1947 - September 23, 2024

David Everett McPeak, age 77, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 at his residence in Hayward, WI.

He was born on March 7, 1947 in Hayward, WI, the son of Calvin Russell and Avis Viola (Roberts) McPeak. He was united in marriage to Jane Roselynn Erickson on November 9, 1968 in Hayward.

David was born and raised in Hayward and graduated from Hayward High School with the class of 1965. After graduation, he was drafted by the United States Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked on the family farm before beginning a career as a meat cutter with Harry’s Meat Palace and later with the Northern Lakes CO-OP. David also worked for Gidley Plumbing and Heating for many years. He enjoyed the fall tradition of whitetail deer hunting, but mostly enjoyed the opportunity to cook for everyone at the hunting camp and sharing good stories. David loved a good old-fashioned pig roast and catered for many of these events along with his family and friends. He was a long-time member of the Hayward American Legion Post #218 where he had served as Post Commander. He was instrumental in the building of the current Veteran’s Community Center.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane McPeak of Hayward; his daughters, Brenda (Daniel) Grubbs of Iron River, MI and Bonnie (Brian) Struska of Hayward; his grandchildren, Abbie (Corey) Moeller, Mya Grubbs, Eric Struska and Nicholas Struska; his great-grandchildren, Peyton, Taytum and Dawson Moeller; his siblings, Russell (Kathy) McPeak, Donna (Keith) Emery and Ronald McPeak all of Hayward; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley McPeak and his infant brother, Vernon McPeak.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward. A reception will follow at 12:00 noon at the Hayward Veteran’s Community Center.
