David Jon Husby, 80, of Cumberland died January 29, 2025, at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake. He was born March 10, 1944, in Barron, WI to Norman and Alice (Burns) Husby. He was married in Basel, Switzerland on September 27, 1977, to Katherine Hill.

David was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force and served for 26 years. During his time he was a Vietnamese Linguist, Logistics Officer, and ROTC Recruiter. He would go on to earn a Master’s Degree in Logistics. He was active with the 6924th Security Squadron and Propwash Gang.

After retiring, David and Katherine owned and operated the Edgewater Resort in Birchwood. He was a life time member of the VFW and the American Legion; a member of the Knights of Columbus. David also volunteered at the Cumberland Hospital. He was also President of the Cumberland Area Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Husby of Cumberland; son, Jon (Joanna) Husby; daughter: Kristina (Scot) Waggoner; grandchildren: Noelle, Isabelle, Wesley, and Chase; brother, Charlie (Kay Rita) Husby, James (Kris) Husby; half-brother; Martin (Vicki) Fankhauser; step-brothers: Richard (Kim) Fankhauser, Tom Fankhauser, and William (Annette) Fankhauser; step-sister, Shirley Behne; sister-in-law, Ruth Fankhauser; nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Alice; and step-brother, Norman Jr. Fankhauser.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Kanna officiating. Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM.
