David Melbourne Hirst "Dave", age 74, of Spooner, WI, formerly of Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells, WI, went home to his eternal reward on July 25, 2023 after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born to Melbourne and Grace (Coolidge) Hirst on March 29, 1949.

He was a veteran in the United States Army and served one year in Vietnam. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had a strong faith in Jesus and lived by it. He started his career working with RC Cola, then delivered bread for Gardener’s Bakery, and later became self-employed delivering for Little Debbie Snacks with his wife, Jody. Dave enjoyed woodworking and building crafts of all sorts.

Dave and Jody were married in February 18, 1995 in Baraboo, WI.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jody; son, Dennis (Carrie) Hirst of De Forest, WI; stepson, Denny (Amanda) O’Connor of Lancaster, CA; brothers, Donald (Marge) Hirst of Spooner, WI, and Milton (Pam) Hirst, of Olathe, KS; sisters, Esther (Richard) Helley of Reedsburg, WI and Katherine (William) Moe of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Teiler Hirst, Taelyn Hirst, Dillon O’Connor, and Jocelyn O’Connor; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Dave is preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Marie Hirst and her mother JoAnn "Sue" (Anderson) Hirst, and his parents Melbourne and Grace Hirst.

Funeral services will be held at the Spooner Church of the Nazarene on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11:30 AM, with a visitation at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery and a luncheon back at the church. A memorial service will be held in Baraboo at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Spooner Church of the Nazarene.
