In Memory of David Otis

September 7, 1969 - November 19, 2020

David (Dave) Herman Otis, of Amery, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his home on November 19, 2020, at the age of 51. He has joined the angels in heaven and has been reunited with his mother and sister. He will be exceedingly missed by all his friends and family.

Dave was born to parents Lyle and Helen Otis on September 7, 1969 in Amery, WI. He grew up as the third of four children and attended Amery High School, where he graduated in 1989. In 2000, Dave married Sarah Lindow and they lived in New Richmond, WI before moving to Birchwood, WI and finally landing in Spooner, WI. After 16 years together, they decided to go their separate ways. After separating, Dave moved back to Amery, closer to family. He spent most of his career in the retail industry and later landed a position at Farm Table restaurant. While working at Farm Table, he discovered his passion for cooking. He loved to spend time being creative in the kitchen. Dave was always posting on Facebook about new recipes he was either trying or making. If he wasn’t in a chef’s apron, you’d catch him in a sports jersey.  Dave had a love of sports - more specifically the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. I doubt he ever missed a game. Family Packer Parties won’t be quite the same without his smiling face.

David is survived by his father, Lyle Otis; his sister, Deborah (Warren) Henke; his brother, James (Rebecca) Otis, brother-in-law Al Briese; his nephews Christopher Briese, Alexander Otis, Nicholas Otis, Mason Henke; his niece, Samantha Otis, and great-niece, Alanna Otis. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Otis; and his sister, Ann Briese.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, a private Celebration of Life will be held for the immediate family at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers or cash, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
