In Memory of Deanne A. (Kobs) Johnson
Deanne A. (Kobs) Johnson, age 81, of Cameron, WI passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on May 21, 1943, in Osceola WI, to Otto and Leona (Schmidt) Kobs, the second of nine children. After graduating from New Richmond High School, she met the love of her life, Larry Johnson. They were married on December 10, 1964 and shared 60 beautiful years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Following Larry’s service in the Air Force, they made their home in Rice Lake, WI, where Deanne worked in various roles. Their lives were forever enriched when they welcomed their first child, Russel. Soon after, they settled in Cameron, where Deanne dedicated herself to raising their three treasured children—Russel, Ray and Wendie. In the early 90s, she began working at St. Croix Casino, a job she adored for the friendships and social connections it brought her. She continued working well into her 70s, finding joy in every interaction. Deanne’s warmth and kindness made her a beloved presence in the community. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with her children and grandchildren, taking scenic drives to the casino and to the races with Larry and chatting over coffee. A familiar face at Betty’s Café for decades, she loved nothing more than a good conversation and a friendly smile.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her in their hearts: her devoted husband, Larry; children Russel (Jen) Johnson of Bristol, Ray (Jacki) Johnson of Eau Claire, and Wendie (Paul) Brooten of Cameron; four cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Cooper and Cayden Johnson and Mason Brooten. Deanne is also survived by her siblings Bonnie Sundt, Anorine Anderson, Nancy Tretsven, Dewain (Wade) Kobs, Bradley, Kerwin, and Larry (Debbie) Kobs and Vickie (George) Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Leona Kobs, brothers-in-law Lloyd Anderson, Bill Tretsven, and Ronnie Sundt, and several dear friends from her Betty’s Café family.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Austin and Georgia at Northern Neighbors and the compassionate staff at Brentwood for their exceptional care in Deanne’s final months. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron from 11:00 AM -2:00 PM. Deanne will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron following the service. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing as she was cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated as we continue to hope and pray for a cure.
