In Memory of Deborah A. Johnson

March 17, 1949 - December 21, 2022

Deborah Ann Johnson, age 73, of Shell Lake, WI, passed away on December 21 at Shell Lake Health Care System with family by her side. She fought a courageous battle with dementia, always bringing kindness and joy to those around her.

Debby was born March 17, 1949 in Eau Claire, WI to Chester and Clarice (Shaker) Davenport.

Debby’s earlier years were spent in Elk Mound, WI, then later moving to Shell Lake, Wi in 1961. She graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1967 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Stout. She worked for the School District of Shell Lake as an elementary and secondary school aid and was also a beloved coach of the high school dance team. She worked for Carol’s Floral in Shell Lake where her artistic attributes shined, New Dimensions Carpet, and later retiring from Ben Franklin in Spooner, WI.

She met the love of her life, Raymond A. Johnson and they were united in marriage June 10, 1972. It was with great joy they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer hosting a luncheon and dance with many friends and family in attendance.

Debby, with her “hubby” Ray, spent many years serving and supporting the community of Shell Lake. With great friends they cheered on the Lakers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and the Green Bay Packers. Debby and Ray enjoyed a large circle of friends and family; welcoming new comers to the community and cherishing times with friends and family of many years.

Debby’s heart was broken with the recent passing of her “hubby” Ray. Also preceeding her in death were her parents, sister Lynn Taubman, sisters and brother-in-law Valores Kaplonow, Dawn Neuman and Jerry Johnson.

She is survived by her brother Bruce (Diane) Davenport, sister and brother-in laws Bill Taubman, Leo Neuman, Marcy Johnson, and many nieces and nephews that she adored and loved as her own.

A Celebration of Life for Debby will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Shell Lake at 1pm with Pastor Sue Odegard officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 12-1pm.

Interment will be at the Shell Lake Cemetery.
