In Memory of Dennis S. Hellendrung
Dennis S. Hellendrung, age 70, of Ridgeland, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 16, 2025. Dennis was the third of five children born to Philip and Audrey (Schutts) Hellendrung on February 28, 1955 at Rice Lake Hospital.
Dennis was baptized and confirmed at the Faith United Methodist Church in Prairie Farm. He attended Prairie Farm School and graduated in 1973.
Dennis grew up on the family farm where hard work and his love for the Guernsey cow was instilled. He was often seen around the show ring at the Barron County Fair, parish shows and Wisconsin and Minnesota State Fairs. We’ll always remember Dennis for his phrase, “Fairs are Fun!” He was active in the Barron County 4-H Dairy project as a Leader, and chaperoned the Dairy delegates to the Wisconsin State Fair a few times.
Dennis worked for numerous area farms throughout the years. He was employed at Jennie-O Turkey Store until his retirement. Hunting, fishing and the Packers were some of his favorite past times.
Dennis’ greatest pride and joy in his life was his daughter, Amy Lynn Olson. He cherished the times they spent together, whether being in the show ring or at her sporting events.
In later years, Dennis was a wonderful caregiver to his parents, which was a great blessing for them to be able to stay in their home.
Dennis is survived by his father, Philip of Barron; brothers, Ronald of Ridgeland, Steven (Mary) of Barron and Tom (Lana) of Ridgeland; brother-in-law, Larry Purintun of Almena; special friend and Amy’s mother, Lynnea Soderberg of Prairie Farm; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Lynn Olson; mother, Audrey; and sister, Darlene Purintun.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held on October 11 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Ridgeland Community Center.
