In Memory of Dolores Peake
Dolores Peake, age 88, a resident of the Town of Rusk, Spooner, Wisconsin, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
Dolores was born on April 25, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to parents John and Victoria (Hornik) Kanak. She attended and graduated from St. Casimir High School in Chicago. During high school she worked at her mother’s grocery store and continued to work for her after graduation. On August 16, 1952, she was united in marriage to John Peake at St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Chicago. After her mother’s grocery store closed, she went to work at an A&P Store until her retirement. In 1994, she retired and moved to Spooner area to be close to family. She attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner and enjoyed watching game shows, QVC, and gambling.
Dolores is survived by her children: John (Denise) Peake of Spooner, Cynthia (Jim) Heilman of Spooner, grandchildren: Brian, Jason, Matt, Victoria (Joel), Billy, Amanda (Jae), James (Kassidy), John (Haley), great grandchildren: Brantley “Pudding”, Landon “Smoochie”, Ryland “Sugar”, Kaelynn “Cupcake”, Zandee “Diddle- dally”, sisters Patricia Kozubowski of Burbank, IL, Jacqueline Demma of Alsip, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and daughter Karen Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 1pm, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner with Fr. Phil Juza as Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the Church. Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery. Pall bearers will be John Peake, James Heilman, Jae VanGuilder, Joel Kellso, and Cody Helstern.
