Donald Iver Chell, age 94, a resident of Grantsburg, WI., passed away on March 4, 2024 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.

Donald was born on July 17, 1929 in Frederic, WI to parents Leonard and Mildred (Peterson) Chell.

Donald met the love of his life, longtime mate, Marlys Olson in their sophomore year of high school. They were married on July 31, 1948 in Pine City, MN. Together they raised their 6 children, Jeanne, Michael, Bruce, Ernest, Jeffrey and David.

In Donald’s younger years he was a dairy farmer and a milk can hauler. He also worked for the Law Enforcement for many years starting as an Under Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff and then becoming Sheriff. He also worked as a dispatcher and in Investigation.

Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Marlys; son, Ernest Chell; parents, Leonard and Mildred Chell; sister, Doris Pederson; brother, Dale Chell.

He will be greatly missed by daughter, Jeanne (Duane) Lee; sons, Michael (Donna) Chell, Bruce (Tammy) Chell, Jeffrey (Julie) Chell and David (Ellen) Chell; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; along with other family, friends and neighbors.

The memorial service for Donald will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10:00 – 11.00 AM) at the First Baptist Church of Falun. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Baptist Church of Falun.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
