Donald Joseph Maloney, age 80, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his residence in Spooner. He was born November 9, 1936 in Emerald, Wisconsin, the eldest son of John and Anna (Ryan) Maloney. After the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, Don graduated from Cretin in 1954 and then enlisted in U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and was united in marriage to Patricia Jane Seidl on on August 9, 1958 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Don worked as a book binder in the Twin Cities until 1975, at which time he and Pat purchased the Log Cabin Store in Danbury. Upon sale of the store a few years later he returned to the bookbinding trade and retired in 1995. Don enjoyed snowmobiling and all types of hunting, and was an avid walleye fisheman, but he especially lived for deer season and the good times spent with his sons and family.

He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Debbie) Maloney of Webster, Daniel (Sandy) Maloney of Fernley, NV and Michael (Jody) Maloney of Mahtomedi, MN; his grandchildren, Traci (Dave) Dreier, Bryan (Maggie) Maloney, Danny, Shannon, Aaron, Kellie, Mikey and Kevin Maloney; his great-grandson, Adam; his sister, Patti (Bill) DeWitt of Forest Lake, MN; and many other dear family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat; his grandson, Ryan; and his brother, Mike.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Spooner Funeral Home, 306 Rusk Street in Spooner where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Chicog Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Regional Hospice, 15910 W Company Lake Rd # 3, Hayward, WI 54843.
