In Memory of Donna M. Wohlk


March 23, 1943 - January 21, 2025

Donna Mae Wohlk, 81, of Almena died, January 21, 2025, at Just Like Home Assisted Living in Chetek. She was born March 23, 1943, in Rice Lake, WI to Henry and Esther (Nelson) Rasmussen. Her childhood was spent on the farm helping to take care of her younger siblings. Donna graduated from high school in 1961. She went on to work at Dairy State Bank in Rice Lake and later Northwestern State Bank.

She was married on September 18, 1965, to Gilbert Hans Wohlk. After the birth of her daughter, Jenelle, Donna dedicated her time to raising her young family and helping to work on the family farm. She went on to work at the elementary school as a cook until her retirement in 2008.

Donna could also be found volunteering at the Yours, Mine, and Ours Thrift Shop in Rice Lake and at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in the Sunday School, the Ladies Aides, and the Circle.

Donna enjoyed feeding the birds, tending to her flowers and garden, spending time in the woods with Gilbert, sewing, and working on the occasional game of solitaire. She cherished the time spent with her family traveling to Colorado and Oregon, and the trips she took with her sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Wohlk of Almena; daughter, Jenelle (Joe) Misselt of Eau Claire; siblings: Carol Solie of Cameron, Joyce Kringle of Rice Lake, Lenore (Dennis) Robinson of Rice Lake, Larry (Toni) Rasmussen of Chetek and Warren (Debbie) Rasmussen of Cameron; sisters-in-law: Elaine Schoenhals, Nancy (Dean) Laube, and Jeannette Wohlk; many other relatives and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Esther Rasmussen; brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Rasmussen; brothers-in-law: Clifford Solie, Don Kringle, Vernon Wohlk, Calvin (Delores) Wohlk, and George Schoenhals; and sister-in-law, Leona Mielke.

Donna’s family would like to give a special thanks to Ted and Sonia Kotz, Michael and Corey Kotz, and to everyone at Just Like Home Assisted Living. Additional thanks go to the staff of Marshfield Medical Center- Rice Lake Home Health and Hospice. They all took such great care of her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor Ike Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM.
