In Memory of Dora S. Rockow
Dora Scheps Rockow, age 100, formerly of Almena and Barron, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Golden Age Manor in Amery.
Dora was born on November 6, 1924 in Almena to Adolph and Susanna Scheps. She lived and worked her entire life in the Almena area.
On October 23, 1943, she married LaVern (Bud) Rockow at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. They were married almost 70 years and they raised three children.
In addition to being a young farm wife during their early married years, she worked outside the home as a waitress at the White House in Poskin and eventually as a laborer for 3M for over 30 years.
Dora never sat still – her life was full of activity, especially sewing, garage sales, and crafting. Her work ethic was impeccable as evidenced by her favorite adage - she always said "busy hands are happy hands." For 20 plus years she especially enjoyed organizing elaborate Easter egg hunts for her grandchildren and wrapping white elephant gifts for Christmas bunko.
Dora left the following survivors, sons, Dennis (Kathleen) of Almena and Monte (Lynette) of Hugo, MN; daughter, Pennie (Joe) Molls of Turtle Lake; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandson; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena. Relatives and friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
