In Memory of Doris Olson


September 27, 1927 - December 20, 2021

Doris Eileen Olson, age 94, a resident of Grantsburg, WI, passed away on December 20, 2021 at her home.

Doris was born on September 27, 1927 in Lorain Township, WI to Glenn and Mae (Stiles) Mack. Doris grew up in Indian Creek and Clam Falls, WI.

She attended Indian Creek Elementary for 8 years and graduated from Frederic High School.
Doris married Virgil Olson on September 27, 1946 in Pine City, MN. Together they raised their 2 children Gary and Carol.

Throughout Doris’s life she worked as an office worker for 2 years at Stockley Foods in Frederic, Olson Drug Store in Frederic and the Cracker Drug Store in Grantsburg. She also worked in the office at the Grantsburg High School for over 30 years.

Doris’s hobbies were bowling, fishing and traveling. She has traveled many places throughout her lifetime including Hawaii, Alaska, cruises to the Caribbeans and through the Panama Canal, bus trips to New England States, Carolinas, New York City, California, Florida, motor trips to Whidbey Island and fishing trips to Canada.

Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil; parents; sisters, Patricia, Dorothy (Don) Beebe; brothers, Leslie (Olga) Mack, Edgar (Dorothe) Mack, Robert Mack; brother-in-law, Emmons Olson; sisters-in-law, Joyce Olson and Roberta (Orval) Johnson.

She is survived by children, Gary (Carol) Olson, Carol (William) Schommer; grandchildren, Kent (Kelly) Olson, Paul Schommer, Kim (Tom) Krupke, Alan (Dana) Schommer; great grandchildren, April (Chuck) Carpenter, Amy Olson, Katelyn (Luke Bollant) Savaage, Cody Czeck, Sam Schommer, Ben Schommer; great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Tyler, Karlee, Abby, Jade and Brooks; along with other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm (visitation from 1:00 -2:00 pm) at the Central United Methodist Church in Grantsburg with Pastor Jenny Lee officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
