In Memory of Douglas L. Chase


June 12, 1962 - January 18, 2025

Douglas L. Chase, age 62, passed away peacefully with family at his side on January 18, 2025. Doug was born on July 12, 1962 to Arthur and Doris Chase at the Bermuda Naval Station on St. David’s Island, Bermuda. While his father served in the Navy, Doug experienced growing up in various locations.

Doug served honorably, for 21 years in the United States Air Force, as a Security Forces Specialist. His deployment took him to Maine, Turkey, Illinois, Washington, and North Dakota, as well as temporary assignments to Kuwait, the Pentagon, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

He and his wife retired to Springbrook, WI where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Doug liked to stay busy and took on part-time jobs at Wal-Mart and L&M in Hayward. For the past 5 years he worked at Spooner Health Hospital, as a Custodian. He will be deeply missed by his work family. Doug was always ready to help anyone in need and was a cherished friend by all who knew him.

Doug is survived by his beloved & devoted wife, Dawn Chase. Cherished Son-in-law of Frank and Charmaine Metzinger, brothers Arthur (Robin) Chase of Dahlonega, GA, and Donald (Nancy) Chase of Jacksonville, FL. Brother-in-law of Mark (Deb) Metzinger and adored uncle of Ashley (Patrick) Crosby, Christina (Tony) Chase, Joseph Metzinger, Christopher Chase, and Michael Chase.

A memorial service celebrating Doug’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Bratley-Nelson Funeral Home, Hayward, WI. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be at a later date at St Francis Solanus Mission Church, Stone Lake, WI.
