In Memory of Edward P. Solum
Edward Peter Solum IV, 50 years old, of Cameron, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic Care System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Eddie was born on October 6, 1975, in Barron, Wisconsin, to Edward Lance Solum III and Sandra Lee Solum. Eddie was raised in Chetek, Wisconsin, on the family farm. Eddie did all the usual farm kid things, rode his bike, did some ice skating on the creek, took care of animals, deer hunted, drove tractors and worked everyday side by side with the family.
Eddie attended school in Chetek, Wisconsin. When he reached high school, he joined the AV Club under the guidance of Mr. Gary Mohr. Eddie absolutely loved it! He helped with videos, recording, and laminating. At one point, people considered him the official school laminator.
Eddie graduated from Chetek High School in 1994. After high school, he worked on the family farm. After a few years, he left the farm and lived in a few different places before settling in his home in Cameron, Wisconsin.
Eddie enjoyed decorating for Christmas and loved Christmas lights so much. In recent years, he really got into baking Christmas cookies and making fudge. Last Christmas he made special gluten free cookies for his niece Pazely.
Eddie loved cookouts and bonfires with family and friends, always making a mean bowl of ham and cheese macaroni salad. Eddie also enjoyed going to the casino and listening to country music. His favorite songs were “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait, and "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond, which he enjoyed singing both of these songs during karaoke.
For a period of time, Eddie called numbers at bingo at The Web in Cameron. He also brought the bingo fun to family gatherings.
Some might say Eddie was a social butterfly, he would pretty much talk to anybody. He made friends very easily. He would help anyone. Eddie didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He had a big, open, caring heart for everyone and he never judged anyone. He never let anyone down and he helped them grow. These special qualities and that big smile are why Eddie will be missed so much.
Eddie is survived by his dog Abe; his father, Edward Lance Solum III of Chetek; siblings Tamra (Charles) LaRue of Chetek, Kimberly (Tommy) Sztuba of Chetek, Lynette (Steve) Posta of Rice Lake, and Kitty (Ryan) Anderson of Eau Claire; Tyrrell Solum (Amanda Pavek) of Chetek; and Aunts Treva A. Solum of Chetek; Betty N. Hazen of Menomonie, WI, and Cecilia Walls of Janesville, WI, along with many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his mother Sandra Lee Solum, Uncle Petey Schlink, Aunt Connie Tankersley, and Uncle Charles Hazen.
A visitation will be held at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek, WI, on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at noon, with the service to follow at 2:00pm. Eddie will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek, WI following the service.
A luncheon will be held in Eddie’s honor after we conclude at the cemetery at the Chetek Lutheran Church Basement.
