In Memory of Elaine J. Wells


June 29, 1928 - September 14, 2025

Elaine J. Wells, 97 of Barron, passed away on September 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 29, 1928 at Prairie Farm, to John and Mildred Seeger.

She grew up in the Prairie Farm area, was baptized and confirmed at the United Lutheran Church and graduated from the Prairie Farm High School. After graduation she attended school in Minneapolis and worked for the Bureau of Credit Control for five years.

On February 3, 1951 she married H. Gale Wells of Barron who owned and operated Northern Granite Corporation. She worked there for several years before having a family.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Barron, served on the Board of Parish Education, taught Sunday School and was a Past Grand Officer of The Order of the Eastern Star of Wisconsin, Past Matron of Esther Chapter #36, and Past President of the Federated Music Club.

She had many hobbies and loved to cook, garden, play bridge, golf, and travel with her husband and family. In the later years, she and her husband took their grandchildren on summer vacation trips in their motor home. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and baking them cookies.

Surviving her are a son, Kris Wells (Lori) of Barron; two daughters, Jean Porrett (James D.) of Sun City Center, Florida and Joan Wooldridge (Craig) of Rice Lake; four grandchildren, Kara Wells (Peder Schieffer), Krista Hanson (Joshua), Britt Wooldridge (Heather), Adam Wooldridge (Rachel); nine great-grandchildren, Dakotah Lundaquam, Teagen Schieffer, Summer and Brady Hanson, Jackson, Cameron, Parker, Theodore and Colin Wooldridge; four great-great grandchildren, Maci , Wells, Kam and Avery Lundaquam; brother, Ronald L. Seeger (Theresa) of Rochester, MN; sister, Mildred Sartor (Gary) of Huntington Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Floy Ann Dorgan; special family members, Nancy Hyllengren, Jason Miloszewicz (Anne) and Jeremy Miloszewicz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale, son, Jackson; daughter, Krista Ann; parents, John and Mildred Seeger; sister, Beverly Mullarky; nephew, Joseph Mullarky, brother, Herby Seeger; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Seeger and brother-in-law, Harold Dorgan and niece, Debra Smathers.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Barron on September 26th with Pastor Ron Matthews officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00, service at 11:00 followed by interment at Wayside cemetery in Barron.
