Elmer Sheldon Anderson, Jr., 88, of Shell Lake died, November 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born June 28, 1929 in Cambridge, MN to Elmer and Ellen (Leader) Anderson, Sr. He was married in Salem Lutheran Church - Shell Lake on October 5, 1991 to Donna (Johnson) Cairns.

Elmer was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church, 56 year member of the Shell Lake American Legion and 36 year member of the Shell Lake Lions Club where he earned distinction as a Melvin Jones Fellow and served several years as a board member. He also served many years on the board of the Shell Lake Cemetery Association. When not volunteering his time to help others, Elmer enjoyed hunting deer and elk, fishing and time spent as his cabin.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Shell Lake; stepson, Curt (Marge) Johnson of Shell Lake; stepdaughter, Lois (David) Raikko of Marquette, MI; 4 grandchildren: Tony, Tammy (Chad) Hill, Erik (Theresa) Raikko and Aaron (Blyce) Raikko; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Elmer was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Johnson) Anderson; brothers: Gilbert Anderson, Roger (Jackie) Anderson, and Warren (Agnes) Anderson; sister, Helen (Myron) Smith and granddaughter-in-law, Rachelle Johnson. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church - Shell Lake with Pastor Todd Ahneman and Pastor Sue Odegard officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Arland Anderson, Craig Anderson, Kirk Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Tony Johnson and Curtis Johnson. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Military Honors by Wisconsin Military Honors Team and the Shell Lake Honor Guard.
