In Memory of Esten Pedersen


January 6, 1937 - November 4, 2021

Esten “Pete” Pedersen’s earthly pilgrimage came to a close November 4th, 2021 when the Lord called him Home after a valiant battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma. He was surrounded by his family at home and under the care of Mayo Hospice at the time of his Homecoming.

Esten was born January 6, 1937 in Eagle Point Chippewa Falls, WI to Elmer and Mina (née Schick) Pedersen. He married his first wife Laverne and they welcomed 7 children to the world. John (Jane) Pedersen, Michael (Kimberly) Pedersen, Kenneth Pedersen, Steven Pedersen, Jeffery (Debbie) Pedersen, Lori (Steve) Vanlandghen, and Patrice (Alan) Crawford. On August 8, 1970, Esten married his beloved wife of 51 years, Bernadine. He was a wonderful bonus Dad to Bernadine’s daughter, Diane Atkins and son, James Thalacker.

is sweet, lovable wife Bernadine, children, John, Michael, Kenneth, Steven, Lori, Patrice, Jeffrey and bonus son James, sisters Elaine Huth and Etta Duehlmeier, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a godchild, nieces and nephews survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eunice Pedersen, and his bonus daughter Diane. Esten worked 33 years for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, which later became Union Pacific. He was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting and fishing. His favorite thing to do was to make people laugh. He was always cracking jokes, pulling pranks, and making others happy. We will greatly miss his kindness, compassion, patience, caring and love.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Friday, November 12, 2021 at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron, WI, Rev. Michael Nielsen officiating, with interment in Rest Haven Gardens in Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, is in charge of the arrangements.
