Eugene Allen “Gene” Catlin, 70, of Comstock died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Essentia Health in Duluth. He was born September 15, 1953, in Cumberland, WI to Silas "Bill" and Marie (Hanson) Catlin. Gene graduated from Turtle Lake High School. He was married in Cumberland on June 7, 1975, to Judy Thorson.

Gene worked in construction for many years. There is hardly a building around that he did not have a hand in building. He made many good friends throughout his construction career.

Gene was an avid hunter. When he was not in the woods with the hounds, he could be found fishing. Gene was a simple man; he enjoyed spending time with his buddies and family. He also enjoyed going on his semiannual trip to Iowa with his friends and grandchildren. He made sure to pass on the legacy of the joy of hunting and fishing to his sons and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Catlin of Comstock; children: Chad (Anna) Catlin of Elk River, MN, Aaron (Becky Nelson) Catlin of Cumberland, and Bryan Catlin of Comstock; grandchildren: Carson, Cole, Leo, Gus, Vinny, Harrisen, Hailey, Hunter, Arizona, and Zarina; siblings: Ronald Catlin of Comstock, Bonnie (Mike) Davison, Grand Junction, CO, Sherry Prokop, Hudson, James (Lori) Catlin, Comstock and Diane (Tim) Johnson, Amery; many nieces and nephews; and countless good friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1 PM - 4 PM at the American Legion in Cumberland.
