In Memory of Eugene A. Moe

October 21, 1944 - October 6, 2022

Eugene “Gene” Moe, 77, of Spooner, WI, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

He was born October 21, 1944, to Fern (Legge) Young and Lewis Moe in Eau Claire, WI. Gene wed Patricia Emberts on July 3, 1965, in Eau Claire, WI.

Survivors include his wife Patricia (Emberts) Moe, his five children, Cory (Ali) Zanganeh, Ben (Jen) Moe, Josie (Jason) Payfer, Cassie (Jeremy) Weideman, and Adam (Shelly) Moe; his grandchildren, Emilee, Zayden, Owen, Evan, Liberty, Wayne, Wendell, Merle, Brynlee, Rylee, and his step grandchildren, Gannen and Taelor; and a sister, Janet (Leon) Bowl.

Gene was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather, Robert Young.

In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Gene had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and the shooting sports, archery being his specialty. For nearly his entire life Gene successfully competed and hunted with the bow and arrow, even after suffering a life changing accident that left him confined to a wheelchair. From the 1960’s on, his archery career included local, state, and national competitions, eventually competing on the United States Paralympic archery team in multiple Paralympic Games overseas. Operating from a small room in his home, and eventually constructing and operating the longest private indoor archery range in the United States, Gene instilled his passion for archery in countless others and made just as many friends along the way. Through all his trials with his disability he never gave up. Gene loved his Lord, his wife, and his family.

Gene’s family invite relatives and his many friends to attend funeral services on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Spooner Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and burial at Spooner Cemetery to follow.
