Eugene “Gene” Arthur Rhodes Age 84, of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Superior, WI, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Rice Lake.

He was born on October 11, 1939 in Lampson, WI to Arthur and Emma Rhodes.

Gene graduated from Solon Springs High School, worked in Omaha, Nebraska and then entered the United States Army and was later Honorably Discharged. Gene worked for Peavey Grain Elevator and also APEX as a supervisor in Superior for many years. He was married to Pauline Giudici Lee on November 12, 1999 in Superior. He loved hunting, gardening, canning vegetables and cooking, and enjoyed watching western movies and shows and to cheer on the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Rhodes; 3 children, Rhonda Rhodes, Eric Rhodes and Melissa Rhodes; a step son, Craig (Kris) Lee; 4 grandchildren, Syerra, Kayla, Madison and Colin; 2 step grandchildren; Peyton and Cameron; a great grandson, Walker; a brother, Ken (Kathy) Rhodes; a sister, Dorothy (Bud) Rydberg; a sister-in-law, Sheila (Dean) Bugni; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma Rhodes; 3 brothers, Ed, Bernard and Bill; and 2 sisters, Thelma and Rose.

The family would like to thank their neighbors, Jim & Julie, John, Bill and Paul and to Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake for their assistance and love that they gave to Gene and Pauline. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
