In Memory of Eugene “Gene” G. Pribnow


February 5, 1927 - November 22, 2025

Eugene “Gene” George Pribnow, 98, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin.

Gene was born in Washington County, Minnesota to William and Florence (Rode) Pribnow on February 5, 1927. He attended school at Harding High in Minnesota and before graduation he enlisted as an 18-year-old into the United States Navy to serve his country during WWII. He married Lorraine Oehlke Nelson on September 30, 1950, and to this union five children were born. After Lorraine’s passing on August 21, 1980, he married Alys “Marietta” Wilson on March 10, 1984, and gained three more children.

Early on in his career, he worked as an independent milk truck driver. Later, he managed the fertilizer plant for the Midland Company in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Eventually, he would become the manager of the Midland Company. After management, and for the majority of his life, he would work as an agronomist at the Baldwin and Almena County CO-OP.

Gene enjoyed many things in life including, gardening, fishing and coffee group. However, what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, and meeting new people. His family used to say that people were strangers until Gene would say hi. After that, they would have a lifelong friend.

He is survived by his children, Eileen VanSomeren, Joyce Pribnow, Janet Pribnow, Gordon (Pam) Pribnow, and Leann Huston; three additional children, Wendy Heiken, Scott (Laurie) Wilson, and Jeff (Terri) Wilson; 33 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores Pribnow, and Lorraine Morrison, along with many other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Pribnow; one grandchild; siblings, Alyce Pire and Warren Pribnow; sons-in-law, Dennis Heiken and Keith VanSomeren.

The family of Gene would like to extend our sincere thanks to Golden Age Manor and Adoray Hospice for their support and care for Gene during these last few months.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Amery, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
