In Memory of Evelyn I. Law
Evelyn Irene (Kelley) Law, 86, of Osceola, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026.
Born on March 10, 1940, in Gouverneur, New York, Evelyn was the daughter of George and Rachel Kelley. She grew up in a large, loving family alongside her seven siblings: Helen, Alvin, Carolyn, Eva, Lucille, Leland, and George.
She graduated from Clifton-Fine High School in 1956, where her yearbook described her as, “An all-around girl who radiates joy!” Those words remained true throughout her life.
After high school, Evelyn enlisted in the United States Air Force and became one of the few female pilots of her time. She later pursued a career as a dental hygienist before marrying the love of her life, Lawrence Anthony "Tony" Law, with whom she built a beautiful family in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and lived for over a decade.
While living in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, during the 1980s, Evelyn served as General Manager of The Preserve Association. In that role, she helped protect the community's treasured "Forever Wild" natural areas while overseeing the association that served hundreds of homes. Her leadership and dedication helped preserve the unique character of the neighborhood she cared for so deeply.
Evelyn's love of the water brought countless cherished days spent with Tony, family, and friends at their cabins over the years, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Following Tony's retirement, the couple moved to Florida near the ocean, where Evelyn enthusiastically embraced golf. After years of playing the game, she one day walked into the garage, put away her clubs, and declared, "I hate golf!" She never picked up a club again. Instead, she pursued her passion for horses and began horseback riding in her late 60s, proving it is never too late to pursue something new.
As her yearbook predicted so many years before, Evelyn truly radiated joy until her final day. Her adventurous spirit, infectious smile, and love for family and life will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, her grandson, Tyler Hein, her parents and six of her seven siblings.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Michele (Jerry) Hein; her son, Bryan (Kelly) Law; her grandson, Zealand Law; her granddaughter, Alex (Jeff) Theismann; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jovie, Croix and Paxton Theismann, and brother Alvin Kelley.
Evelyn always put the needs of others before her own, living a life defined by generosity, compassion, and joy. She leaves behind a legacy of true kindness, courage, and strength that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
Memorial service and interment for Evelyn and Tony at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Fall 2026.
