In Memory of Evelyn L. Haremza


August 3, 1926 - February 3, 2023

Evelyn Lorraine Haremza died peacefully in her sleep at the Care and Rehab in Cumberland, WI on February 3, 2023.

She was born August 3, 1926, in Spooner, WI to Ray and Hazel Block. When her fiancé Ray Haremza, returned from duty in the Navy after World War II, they were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shell Lake Wisconsin on February 28, 1946.

Lorraine attended Shell Lake High School and graduated from there. She worked at the abstract office in Shell Lake, then worked at the County Clerk House for the County Clerk and Clerk of Court. When the Shell Lake Clinic opened, Lorraine worked as a receptionist for 13 years and at the Shell Lake Hospital for 30 years.

She and Ray had many happy times camping, canoeing, and taking several enjoyable trips together.

Lorraine was a Girl Scout leader and an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She sang in the choir for many years. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines. She loved tutoring at the Shell Lake schools.

Lorraine loved her family and spent many happy times with them.

She is survived by her three children, Mike Haremza (Helen Thannum) of Shell Lake, Steve (Karla) Haremza of OH, and Deb (Dave) Ekern of Shell Lake; brother, Charles (Mary Kay) Block; sister, Lois Reinhart; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; son, Pat; daughter, Judy Kallenbach; and sister, Judy Dwinnell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shell Lake, WI with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will be in Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the church prior to the service.
