In Memory of Flo "Florence" R. Dixon

December 24, 1944 - February 18, 2026

Florence Rose Dixon, affectionately known to all as Flo, was a beacon of joy and laughter, whose melody of life began on Christmas Eve of 1944 in the quaint town of North Freedom. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on February 18, 2026, in Grantsburg, WI, surrounded by the love of her family as she succumbed to natural causes.

Flo was a remarkable woman whose love and laughter filled every room. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean, her devoted parents, and her eight cherished brothers and sisters, and her beloved dog Sparky. Her legacy of love continues through her four daughters, Darla Harper and her husband Cliff, Laurie Williams with her spouse Troy, Pam Goble alongside Brent Edwards, and Connie Apfel, and beloved dog Missy. The joy of her life extended to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her loving spirit and funny antics.

Flo's life was marked by her entrepreneurial spirit and her dedication to serving others. After years of being the heart of the party as a bartender and cook, she ventured into the world of entrepreneurship, where she established a thriving medical transport business. Her work ethic and commitment to her community were unmatched, and her involvement with various associations only highlighted her desire to make a difference.

Her faith as a Christian was integral to her life. Flo's love for music was a testament to her faith, with her guitar and voice harmonizing in praise. She lived out her dream when she traveled to Nashville and recorded a record, a milestone that she held close to her heart, as it was the embodiment of her lifelong passion for music.

Flo's zest for life extended beyond her music. She was an embodiment of the phrase "sunshine mixed with a little hurricane." Her adventurous spirit found her on the water, basking in the sun, and cherishing moments with her family. She was equally at home donning her leather jacket and taking to the open road on the back of her daughter's Harley, feeling the wind in her hair and the freedom in her soul as she rode with her girls.

Described by those who knew her best as loving, kind, and undeniably funny, Flo's sense of humor was as infectious as her smile. In the words of the beloved comedian Bob Hope, "I don't feel old. I don't feel anything until noon. That's when it's time for my nap." Flo lived by this mantra, embracing life with the same humor and light-heartedness.

Flo's life was a melody of laughter, service, and love. Her song may have ended, but the echo of her melody will resonate in the hearts of those she touched forever. Let us remember Flo not with sorrow, but with the joy and laughter that she brought into our lives. As we bid farewell to this incredible woman, let us carry her spirit within us, spreading love, kindness, and, most importantly, joyous laughter to all we meet.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at New Hope Lutheran Church (685 WI-70, Grantsburg, WI 54840).
