In Memory of Floyd E. Bowitz

October 23, 1950 - January 25, 2023

Floyd Elroy Bowitz was born October 23, 1950, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Lorraine (Hauser) Bowitz and Floyd Albert Bowitz.

He passed away peacefully at the age of 72 at Eagle Ridge, Osceola WI, on January 25, 2023, after a brief battle with blood cancer.

Elroy graduated from Bowdon ND High School in 1968. When his father suddenly passed away, Elroy took over his dad’s blacksmith business and drove school bus to help support the family. Eventually, he moved to Minnesota where he worked as a mechanic and welder. He met Linda Hohman on a blind date and they were married in Dresser WI in 1988. They resided in the Osceola area until the present. Their two children, Erik and Laura, were sources of great pride and joy for Elroy, as was his Norwegian heritage. He delighted in cruises and travel to warm climates. He had a strong faith which helped carry him through each day of his life.

Elroy’s kind heart and humble manner knew no limits and his unique sense of humor and penchant for being able to make light of almost any situation are inspirational hallmarks that will live on in his family and friends. Between fishing, grilling, gardening, watching football and napping between Star Trek episodes, he lived a peaceful and fulfilling familial life.

His keen ability to listen to all voices was one of his most inspiring qualities, often resulting in lengthy conversations with complete strangers. He always saw the best in people and regularly expressed a deep gratitude for those friends, both old and new, near and distant, who shared in his celebration of life.

Elroy Bowitz was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Peggy Bowitz, Carol Bowitz and Darwin Bowitz. He will be missed by his wife Linda, son Erik (Shirley Wang), daughter Laura (Brian Fitzgerald), brother Orlin (Marlys) Bowitz, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, special friends Dwight and Carol Eckart, as well as countless other friends and acquaintances.

Heartfelt thanks to Osceola EMTs and firemen, Osceola Medical Center, Good Samaritan Society, St. Croix Hospice and the kind folks at Eagle Ridge. Memorials to the family will be donated to his favorite causes.
