In Memory of Floyd W. Fleming
Floyd William Fleming, age 74, of Lac Courte Oreille, WI, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Floyd was born on April 30, 1951, in Hayward, WI the son of John and Marie (DeMarr) Fleming. Floyd lived a life full of joy, simple pleasures, and deep connections. He found happiness in painting, bowling, fishing, and the occasional trip to the casino to play the slots. One of his greatest joys was participating in the Special Olympics, where he proudly earned numerous awards and certificates—a true testament to his spirit and determination.
Every year, Floyd eagerly anticipated the Fishing Has No Boundaries event. Being out on the open waters brought him peace and a sense of freedom, reminding him of his father, John Fleming, who once guided fishing trips on the Chippewa Flowage. Those moments were more than recreation – they were cherished ties to family and tradition.
Floyd also valued his time at Ventures, working alongside staff and peers to create items sold in the local Hayward store. He took pride in contributing to his community, especially during his time at the LCO Country Store, where he stocked shelves and handled odd jobs. These roles gave him opportunities to connect with family and neighbors, something he truly loved.
And of course, Floyd was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and an Elvis enthusiast—two passions that always brought a smile to his face. Floyd’s kindness, laughter, and love for life touched everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his brother John “Injun” Fleming; sister Agnes Fleming; many nephews & nieces.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents John & Marie; brothers Jerome Fleming, Obie Fleming, Art Fleming, Virgil Fleming & Eugene Fleming; sisters Theresa Williams, Mary Rose Fleming, Julie Ann Carter & Delphine Quaderer.
