
In Memory of Gary L. Meyer
Gary Lee Meyer, 74, of Elk River, MN passed away January 10, 2025 at Mercy Hospital.
Gary was born March 15, 1950 in Frederic, WI to Willard and Dorothy (Williams) Meyer. He grew up on the family farm outside of Grantsburg with his seven brothers and one sister, and graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1968.
In 1967 Gary married Connie Johnson and together they had three little boys, Gary Jr. (Goob), Steve, and Chris.
In 1995 Gary married Colette Deans. They spent 25 years together before Colette’s passing in 2020.
Gary spent much of his life working in the construction field and as a truck driver. He was an avid Packers fan, rarely missing a game, and had a real knack for playing pool, winning several tournaments and trophies over the years. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he never passed up the chance to cast a line. He enjoyed the company of good friends and was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dorothy; wife, Colette; sons, Steve Coy and Chris Coy; brothers, Robert and Duane; sister-in-law, Donna Meyer; brother-in-law, Allen Benson; niece, Jennifer Meyer.
He is survived by his children, Gary “Goob” (Stacy) Coy, Brad (Dawn) Meyer, Sarina (Steve Perez) Rogers; grandchildren, Seth (Hailey) Coy, Sawyer Coy, Carinna (Austin) Nikunen, Andrew (Ashlee) Coy, Hayden Meyer, Mason Meyer, Raini Rogers, River Bonneville, Raiven Perez; great grandchildren, Praxton, Kohen, Genevieve, Liam, Lena, and Ryker; brothers, Rodney (Patty) Meyer, Harley (Patty) Meyer, Jim (Ginni) Meyer, David Meyer, Mike (Sheila) Meyer; sister, Barb Benson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 12 to 4pm at the Elk River American Legion Hall located at 525 Railroad Drive, Elk River, MN 55330.
There will be a private family burial in the spring.
