In Memory of Gary Nordin


June 15, 1943 - August 6, 2021

Gary Wayne Nordin of Siren, WI, 78, passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife Genevieve (Bassett) Nordin and two dogs Minnie and Peanut by his side, on Friday, August 6th, 2021.

Gary was born on June 15th, 1943 in St. Paul, MN. He proudly served in the Korean war as a Private E-1.

Gary had a warm smile, a good sense of humor, and a friendly word for everyone. He enjoyed going garage saling, collecting treasures, meeting new people, fishing, going to the casino, welding and building things. He spent time working for 3M Company, CP Railroad, worked for the Chisago City, MN Police Department and had his own Heating/HVAC Company. Most of all, Gary loved his family.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Wayne Nordin and mother Doris (Schuneman) Nordin and his granddaughter Angel Rae Rueger.

He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him.

He is survived by many including his wife Genny, his sister Barbara (Nordin) Enney of Burlington, ND, and his children from his former wife Virginia (Ronshaugen) Nordin including; James & Julie (Burton) Nordin of Baxter, MN, Charles & Melissa (Nordin) Templin of Pierz, MN, Elden & Wendy (Nordin) Rueger of Baxter, MN, Stephan Nordin of Brainerd, MN, Joseph & Tina (Nordin) Avery of Independence, MN, Aimee (Espeseth/Galles) Nordin of Garrison, MN, Garyson (Duke) Nordin & Melissa Maiwald of Brainerd, MN.

He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Thomas Nordin, Joseph Nordin, Charles & Lexie (Scanlon) Templin, Jonathan Templin & Kayla Neu, Joshua Templin & Emily Skroch, Jennica Templin, Arianna Templin, Luke & Annah (Rueger) Swanson, Michael & Grace (Rueger) Eberhardt, Ian & Elizabeth (Rueger) Haug, Paul Rueger & Kati Trout, Stevie Austin, Leigha Avery, Jacob Avery, Riley Avery, Lillianna Avery, Amelia Avery, Nick Laber & Ginelle Espeseth, Adam & Ashley (Espeseth) Peterson, Landyn Espeseth, Chase Galles, Avery Nordin, Elliott Nordin, Derek & Angela (Oder) Pulak. Great Grandchildren include; Mabel Swanson, Edith Swanson, Ava Templin, Alex Templin, Carter Templin, Finnley Laber, Eleanor Peterson, Oliver Avery, Radly Pulak, Reed Pulak, Everly Skroch-Templin, as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Gary’s life and military service, which will be held at the Fort Ripley Cemetery on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 at 2:00PM.

Until then, everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Gary’s life in their own way, or by enjoying the things he loved, such as going fishing or garage saling.
