In Memory of Gary Weaver

June 10, 1946 - October 22, 2019

Gary Weaver, age 73, a resident of the Town of Evergreen, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake.

Gary was born on June 10, 1946, at home in the Town of Evergreen to parents Clark and Naomi (Phinn) Weaver.  He attended the Gaslyn School prior to transferring to the Spooner Schools.  At the age of 16, he moved to Maryland to live with his sister. He then moved to Washington D.C. to live with another sister before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, where he began working as a steel worker.  He moved back to the Spooner area when he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps, going though Basic Training at Camp Pendleton.  Gary was deployed to Vietnam where he would serve 3 years before being honorably discharged.  After his discharge, he lived with his sister in North Prairie, Wisconsin, and began work as a plumber. Through his work, he met and later married Victoria Doughty on December 12, 1967, at the United Methodist Church in North Prairie. The couple lived in North Prairie for a time before moving to Spooner.  The couple held onto their home in Spooner, but moved to Colorado Springs where he drove semi-truck in the mountains.  The couple later moved back to their home in Spooner and Gary purchased his own semi-truck and began driving over the road, mainly from Maine to Texas.  Gary was a multi-talented self-employed man for the majority of his career, skilled in many areas including electrical, plumbing, fabricating, construction, and inventing things out of necessity.  The couple also bought and ran the C& R store for a few years while dabbling in real estate in several states.  Gary and Vicki would winter in Florida and summer in Spooner up until about 3 years ago when they sold their home in Florida.  Gary loved to spend time with his family, hunt, fish, and trap in his spare time.  He was a mentor to his children and grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife Vicki; children: Carrie (Bill) Fulton of Spooner, Julie Andrae of Thomaston, GA, Cynthia Jones-Thomas of Edgerton, WI, Jeffery Jones of Spooner, Judy Gallina of Mendota, IL; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Lola Duckert of Sparta, WI, Duane (Ilene) Weaver of Sarona, WI, Avis (Con) Bernak of North Prairie, WI, Kay (David) Kuhl of MN, Evie Roberts of Eau Claire, WI, Susie Melton of Superior, WI, Jon (Misty) Weaver of Webster, WI; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Clark and Naomi Weaver.

At Gary’s request, no funeral will be held.
