In Memory of Genevieve "Jean" Hart

May 15, 1941 - October 31, 2025

Genevieve "Jean" Hart, 84, of Almena died Friday, October 31, 2025, at her home. She was born May 15, 1941 in Turtle Lake, WI to Frank and Helen (Moskal) Sindelar. She grew up near Turtle Lake and graduated high school there in 1959.

After graduating, Jean spent 9 years in St. Paul, MN before returning to the Clayton area in 1969 and operated a dairy farm, along with her husband, John and children. She retired in 2006 and remained on the farm. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Jean was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother! She loved being on her farm and decorating her yard every summer. She cherished the time that her grandkids and great-grandkids would visit.

She is best known in the area for her love of playing softball, which she did for 25 years! When at home, you would find her with her beloved dog, “Snickers”, sitting on her lap. The kids referred to “Snickers” as her favorite child. Jean was fun-loving and would keep you laughing with her joking around.

She is survived by 2 sons: James (Susan) Hart and Jeffrey Hart, both of Clayton; 1 daughter: Jodi (Shahid) Mehmood of Lewisville, Texas; 2 granddaughters: Jessica (Adam) Millermon and Jennifer (Zach) Hegna; 1 grandson: Hassan Mehmood; 2 great grandchildren: Elsie Millermon and Grayson Hegna; 1 brother, Richard Sindelar of Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Frank and Helen; infant daughter, Julie and sister, Marilyn Walcheski.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Almena. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
