In Memory of George H. Fjorden

September 18, 1935 - October 29, 2025

George was born to Margaret Glaser Fjorden and Harold Fjorden Sr in Minneapolis, MN. The family moved to Luck, WI in 1946. He went to Luck High School until he joined the Army for a three-year term. He then worked at Waldorf Paper Company, the Jesse Peterson Sawmill, Stoklasa Sawmill, and retired from Cummings Lumber where he worked for over 25 years.

George met Sandra Berke at Calderwood Lodge, which was owned by her father, while still at school and they married in 1958 in Pine City, MN. George and Sandy had three children, Harvey Dale, Ted Harold and George Harold Jr. In 1975, George and Sandy welcomed their nieces, Arlene and Sandra Baker into their home.

George was a quiet and kind hearted man. He would do anything for anyone. If there was wood to be chopped, he could not be kept away. Even at age 90, he still loved to mow the lawn and no one was going to take that job away from him.

Nothing beat George’s best role – Grandpa! George was grandpa to Bobbi, Lisa, Dylan, Justin, Hunter, Sierra, Heath, Nicky, Dustin, Ashley, Russell, Austin, Matthew, Kimberly, Amanda and Michael. George learned the hard way not to lead a horse with twine when he lost his pointer finger. Because of that, all George’s grandkids can be identified because they point with their middle finger, just like he did. He built them the play set “Jungle George” and enjoyed taking them fishing on his boat.

George had a great love for family, friends, fishing and reading. He would read several books a week. His favorites were westerns, military history, thrift store finds and books gifted from the family.

George and Sandy had many pets over the years. Sandy would bring home a bird, cat or dog and George would mutter under his breath “Jesus Christ, what are we going to do with that.” The animals always loved George best and he was never without a little dog in his lap. His favorite is fondly called “Cocaine” by all the family. George was also the primary care giver for “Willie” the parrot. He was the only one who could feed him without getting bitten.

George was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Harold, son George Jr “Pork”, siblings, Jim and Lucy, sisters-in-law Bonnie and Arlene and brothers-in-law Jerry, Bob, Johnny and Warren. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, siblings Jack, Cora, Harold (Dolly), Marguerite, sisters-in-law Priscilla and Judy and sons Harvey (Melodi) and Ted as well as 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A lunch will be held at the Luck DBS Hall from 11-1 on Sunday, November 9th. In celebration of George's life, put on a flannel shirt and come and join us.
