
In Memory of Gerald B. “Jerry” Diamond
Gerald B. “Jerry” Diamond, 87, passed away peacefully in De Pere, WI on May 27, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Jerry was born in Hayward, WI, on January 10, 1938, to the late Benn and Grace (Johnson) Diamond. He grew up in Hayward and was a proud member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Indians. Jerry graduated in 1956 from Haskel High School in Kansas. After high school he joined the U.S. Army. Jerry was stationed overseas for 11 years. He was a U.S. Army recruiter during the Vietnam era in Chicago. Jerry met Fern Cornelius while stationed in Chicago, they were married in 1976. He retired from military service in 1977. After his retirement from the military, Jerry attended Mt Senario College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Business degree. Jerry owned and operated American Indian Gift Store in Hayward for more than 18 years. While a business owner, he also practiced the art of silversmithing. When he wasn’t in his store, you could find him on a lake fishing or on the golf course. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Jerry spent a lot of time fishing on the lakes in Hayward.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Fern; daughter Deanna (Nolan) Barrett; grandchildren Gerald, Tessa & Gracie Diamond and Chance & Chase Barrett; seven great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his infant son, Charles Diamond; son Zeke Diamond; and brother Bruce Diamond.
Tribal Funeral Prayers will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Gary Quaderer Sr. will officiate with Military Honors accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team and LCO AMVETS Post #1998. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
