
In Memory of Gerald E. Huse
Gerald E. Huse “Gerry”, age 90, of Minong, WI passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Spooner Health System.
Gerald Edwin Huse was born June 25, 1934, in Eau Claire, WI, the son of Frederick and Marie (Berndt) Huse. He was raised in the Mondovi, WI area on his family’s dairy farm. After his schooling, Gerry joined the U.S. Army on September 6, 1956, and served in Germany during the Korean War. Gerry was honorably discharged on September 5, 1958, and returned to the Eau Claire, WI area. Gerry started work for Pepsi Cola in Eau Claire, WI and achieved the position of Production Manager and Warehouse Manager. Gerry met Janice A. Olson during her employment at Eau Claire Co-Op Oil Company. Gerry and Janice were married on December 30, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. Gerry and Janice resided in Altoona, WI and owned a cabin on Lake Gilmore near Minong, WI where they spent a great deal of time. After 42 years with Pepsi, Gerry retired, and they moved to Minong, WI. Gerry enjoyed being outdoors hunting, golfing and fishing. Some of Gerry’s many accomplishments were three “hole in one’s”. Gerry and Janice enjoyed many winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ including many trips to Mexico. You always knew where you stood with Gerry, his big heart will be missed.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janice; two sons, Thomas (Patricia) Huse of Chetek, WI, Gregory (Joanne) Huse of Eau Claire, WI, two grandchildren, Cody and Madelyn; two step grandchildren, Andrew and Brandon; two brothers Ronald and Charles Huse of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Gary (Betty) Olson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Fred and Marie); mother and father-in-law, Charles and Alice Olson; brother, Dennis Huse; Sister-in-laws, Delores Huse and Karen Spickler; and granddaughter, Savannah.
A memorial service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Calvary Lutheran Church, located at 675 W Shell Creek, Rd, Minong, WI with Pastor Kevin Kaiser officiating. A gathering will take place from 10am to 11am at the church prior to the service. Interment to be held at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Beaver Brook Township, WI. Military honors will be accorded by the Wisconsin State Military Funeral Honors Program.
