
In Memory of Gloria A. Knutson
Gloria Ann Knutson, age 86, of Spooner, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. She was born on September 9, 1939, in Rice Lake to Fred and Margaret (Krahenbuhl) Wetzel.
Gloria graduated from Rice Lake High School and continued her education at college in North Park, Illinois. She worked for several years in the Chicago area in various accounting roles.
On July 11, 1959, Gloria was united in marriage to William “Bill” Knutson in Dubuque, Iowa. Together, they founded WK Appliance in Spooner in 1965 and worked side by side for more than 50 years, building both a successful business and a life rooted in dedication and partnership. Gloria had a love for cooking and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, proudly holding season tickets for many years. She and Bill enjoyed traveling together, spending winters in Arizona and Cozumel.
Above all, Gloria’s greatest joy was her family, especially time spent at the family cottage on Silver Lake in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Gloria was a mentor and source of encouragement to many, offering wisdom, compassion, and support throughout her life. She had a beautiful smile that could light up any room, a kind and gentle spirit, and a deep faith that guided her daily life. Those who knew Gloria loved her, and she loved them in return.
She is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Knutson; her sons, Mike Knutson and Mark (Paula) Knutson; six grandchildren, Billie Jo, Kallie (Sam), Samantha (Ryan), Taylor (Amber), Sydni, and Stella; and eight great-grandchildren.&
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gay Louise Knutson, and her parents, Fred and Margaret Wetzel. A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at a later date.
