Gloria Jean Ernst, 92, of Cumberland died Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Cumberland Healthcare. She was born May 17, 1932 in the Almena area to Chris and Alice (Pierson) Abt, grew up near Almena, and graduated from Turtle Lake High School.

She was married in Minneapolis, MN on May 29, 1953 to Edwin "Ed" Ernst. Gloria worked for Toro for many years, and later for Gibson Greeting Card Company. She and Ed visited their cabin on Sand Lake for several years before retiring their full time some thirty years ago. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Cumberland. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and baking and putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed Friday Night Fish Frys, visiting casinos, and hot fudge sundaes.

She is survived by nieces and nephews Barb (Jerry) Maunu, Pat (Len) Olson, Nancy (Dave) Sparby, Sandy (Chris) Steel, Denise (Russ) Putzke, and Warren Putzke. Also Joan (Tom) Smrekar, June (Robert) Liverseed, Bev Johnson, Shirley Gerland, Mark Ernst, and Liz (Dan) Boyle.

Gloria was preceded in death by sisters, Vivian (Melvin) Putzke and Fern Olson; niece, JoAnn Ballard, and nephews, Vern and Randy Kent.

Gloria requests no gifts or flowers. Anyone wishing to can send a gift of money to The First United Methodist Church in Cumberland.

No service will be held as Gloria wished to be cremated and put with Ed at the VA Cemetery. She is remembered and loved by family and friends.
