In Memory of Helen L. Skinner


October 21, 1926 - September 28, 2023

Helen Louise Skinner, 96, of Cumberland died Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. She was born October 21, 1926, in Cumberland, WI to Nick and Patricia (Mannello) Ricci Sr. She was married in Pine City, MN on April 2, 1945, to Albert Skinner Sr. who preceded her in death on October 26, 2004.

Helen was an avid bowler and softball player. She was a part of a bowling league for many years. Helen was also an avid and competitive card player.

She was a very skilled cook and ensured that no one left the house hungry. Whether the visitor was family or not, everyone was fed. Even the many animals that came to visit were well fed. Helen made sure that her family felt and knew they were loved. She would pass time crocheting and would gift her afghans to both family and friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Bob (Pat) Skinner, Bert (Sue) Skinner, Jr, and Michael P Skinner; six grandchildren: Bill Skinner (Jodie Cox), Kristine (Jason) Steege, Rebecca (Bill) Buhl, Katharine (Nathan) Kuenkel, Julie (Ron) Helstern, and Adam (Sarah) Skinner; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Nick (Bev) Ricci; sister-in-law, Dayle Ricci; and many other family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Al; sisters: Doris Chartraw, Jean Towne, and Laura Ficocello; brothers: Albert and Thomas Ricci.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland with Father Jayanna Kanna officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland. Pallbearers are Bill Skinner, Kris Steege, Becky Buhl, Katie Kuenkel, Julie Helstern, Adam Skinner, and Nick Ricci. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday, October 2, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland and one hour before the services at the church on Tuesday.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
