Helen Sandra Peterson, 82, of Turtle Lake died August 29, 2024 at Regions Hospital. She was born November 4, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Joe and Violet (Torgerson) Donatell. She was married in Zion Lutheran Church on December 6, 1958 to Darrell Peterson who preceded her in death on January 9, 2003.

Helen was very proud when she earned her G.E.D in 1984. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. While her family grew, she enjoyed reading to them and taking them to the library. She also made sure to attend their various sports events. She was a talented seamstress, embroiderer, and gardener. She worked on the farm, was a substitute librarian and waitress. She enjoyed playing cribbage with the neighbors.

She is survived by her son, Michael Peterson; daughters: Debbie Peterson, Cindy (Mark) Luehman and Kristi (Michael) Ottosen; 12 grandchildren: Angela Buckner, Sara Johnson, Justin (Lisa) Luehman, Brant (Britt) Luehman, Brock (Heather) Luehman, Jordan (Hannah) Luehman, Christopher (Jamie) Peterson, Travis (Melissa) Peterson, Heather (Jordan) Rush, Jamie Miller, Trent Ottosen, and Amber Ottosen; 19 great grandchildren: Oliver and Amelia Johnson, Ayla Ottosen, Avery and Collins Luehman, Hutson, Baker, and Austyn Luehman, Cooper and Payton Luehman, Liv and Annika Luehman, Alexsander Buckner, Carter and Madison Holerud, Kristy Nelson, Katie Peterson, and Addie and Bryer Rush; and other family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Peterson; son, Robin Peterson; and great granddaughter, Cloe Buckner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday September 9, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers are Grandsons: Justin, Brant, Brock, and Jordan Luehman; Trent Ottosen, Travis and Christopher Peterson. Honorary pallbearers are Granddaughters: Sara Johnson, Heather Rush, Jamie Miller, Amber Ottosen, and Angie Buckner. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM Sunday September 8, 2024, and from 10-11 AM at the church.
