In Memory of Henry D. Amundsen


March 3, 1939 - March 30, 2023

Henry (Hank) Darrel Amundsen of Webster, WI passed away surrounded by the love of his family on March 30th, 2023 at Burnett Medical Center.

Hank was born to Henry and Jessie (Ferdig) Amundsen on March 3rd, 1939, in Lewis, Wisconsin.

After graduating from Frederic High School in 1957, Hank joined the Navy. He was released from active duty and transferred to the Naval Reserve on May 17, 1961. That same year on December 29th he married Patricia Coen. He was honorably discharged on May 27th, 1963. He began his career at Kline Cabinet's. He went on to work in the construction business and soon owned his own company, H. Amundsen Construction Inc. In 1983 in partnership with James Schafer he founded Henry James Properties, building and operating two office complexes in Lino Lakes. After establishing The Emerald Office Supply Store in one of the buildings, Hank owned and operated the store until he retired in 1995 and moved to Yellow Lake outside of Webster, WI.

Hank was an active member of the Lino Lakes Lions. Serving many roles from President to substitute bronc rider during a rodeo fundraiser. He was guiding Lion for the Stacy Lions, a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow award and President of the St. Mark Lutheran Church council in Circle Pines.

Hank enjoyed the outdoors. His many hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting and, later in life, he was especially fond of the game of golf. He loved cheering on his daughters and later his grandchildren during their many sporting events. He was an avid Vikings football fan and was thrilled that his son-in-laws were too. He had a mischievous sense of humor and was the king of hilarious one-liners. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Avis; half siblings, Lawrence, Inez, and Evelyn; brother-in-laws, Ron, Earl and Norman; and niece Melissa.

Hank is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters, Michelle Gudmundson (Kevin), Melanie Skoglund (Tom); grandchildren, Adam (Maggie), Haley (Elijah), Paige (Collin), Matthew and Rachel (Carter); great grandchildren, Kaylee, Andi and Henry; sister, Joyce Peterson (Gary); brother-in-law, Dick Coen; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 8th at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, WI, with military honors.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
